President, Interim Solutions
Arlene Swartz is a senior nonprofit management and fundraising professional. She also brings experience in executive and development search, fundraising training, coaching, and board development.
During the past ten years, she has served as Interim Director of Development for a wide array of nonprofits, including NYC Mission Society, StoryCorps, Brooklyn Historical Society, Lower East Side Tenement Museum, Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice, ReGender, Children’s Museum of Manhattan, and JCCs of North America.
Arlene not only understands the complex needs of the nonprofit sector but also brings an unusually wide range of perspectives to Interim Solutions — as a staff member, consultant, interim consultant, executive director and board member.
Prior to consulting, Arlene served as Director of Development for City Harvest, AIDS Resource Center and NARAL Prochoice NY. In these positions, she created comprehensive fundraising programs from the ground up, recruited and trained development staff, and worked collaboratively to create effective board members actively engaged in fundraising and governance.
Arlene is a former board member of Women in Development. She was an adjunct professor for Columbia University’s M.S. program in Fundraising Management and developed the curriculum for The Nonprofit Board of Directors. She also served as Vice-Chair of Programs for Fundraising Day in NY, 2008-2010.
